Gaining weight while dieting

Hi I seem to be gaining weight while dieting. I started of by writing down everything that I eat for a week to see what my maintenance intake would be. I took that amount and subtracted 15% to keep my weight loss healthy, I planned my meals to start of breakfast with the biggest meal of the day and as the day goes by every meal gets a bit smaller. I am taking in 6 meals a day witch is 40% carbs, 40% protein and 20% fat. I started to use some supplements with and a meal replacement to use during the day. I am not training that much so I really don’t think I am gaining muscle weight! After 2 weeks of following this eating programme with not much training but keeping it really healthy I seem to be gaining weight or stay the same, I made the mistake of not taking my measurements when I started but it really feels like I lost something and I see that in my clothes, am I doing something wrong or is it possible that my weight stays the same but I am losing some fat percentage? I am convinced that it is not muscle weight because I am not training.

i'm having the same problem as you! i watchedmy sister lose 140 lbs so i went on the same program she was on... reduce calories, increase excersize. the first month i got in an accident so couldn't excersize but made sure to eat right, lost 6 lbs. the second month my ankle is still stiff but i swam laps 3 days a wk (only like 20 laps) and still consumed the same amount of food (like 1800 calories), and was expecting to have an increase in weight loss... i was aiming for like 8-10 lbs lost.... i only lost 3 frigen pounds!!!!!!!! I started at 274 but cannot for the life of me get under 265... if i do, it lasts a few days and even when i do good i gain it back and cannot get under my 260's!!!!!! i dont know what i'm doing wrong! i'm eating healthy foods, drinking water, taking viatamins, excersizing at a healthy pace.... i just dont get it!!!!!! so i feel your pain... ugh

Hi Laura and Misty, I too am in the same boat. I have been on a strict lactose and gluten-free doctor recommended calorie restricted diet with 70 minutes of moderate cardio workouts at the gym 5 days a week. I lost 2 kilos(1 pound) about two weeks ago though am not a fan of the scales, I thought there would be some weight loss. My fiance is also on a weight loss plan though his calorie restriction and diet is far less restricted, he lost 3 pounds in the past 2 weeks at his weigh-in yesterday and motivated me to step on the scales but I was mortified to find that I had gained back the lost pound plus 1 more! Some of my clothes are slightly loose and I have alot more energy and feel fitter therefore I am going to continue with this plan. Would really appreciate it if someone could give us some advice on whether the fact that the scales are not tipping is due to a fat-loss, muscle-gain ratio or perhaps it is water-retention, something else...Laura and Misty we must not be demotivated by the scales, keep on your plans, perhaps an expert can assist us in seeing some better results.
